About Me

About Me

I am an experienced digital editor, writer, and podcast producer. I have experience in SEO, HTML and several different content management systems, and I have created content for multiple social media platforms. No matter the medium, I've spent my career enlightening readers, listeners or viewers with captivating, important stories, and building and audiences through well-developed content.

My work can be found at TIME.comATTN.com, Salon.com, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Fortune.comThrillist, Condé Nast Traveler, The Frisky, and more. You can listen to my "Got Your Attention" podcast interviews—"Daily Show" co-creator Lizz Winstead, abortion-rights activist Dr. Willie Parker, YouTuber Gaby Dunn, etc.—here.

I have a Master's degree in Journalism from New York University and a Bachelor degree in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego. Prior to entering the journalism space, I worked for U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) in her Downtown Los Angeles office doing constituent services.

Outside of following the 24-hour news cycle (which I am admittedly addicted to), I go to music shows, watch a lot of Turner Classic Movies, read the Sunday New York Times (which I still get delivered in print), practice yoga, cook, and snuggle my cat Milton.

I just finished reading "Pride and Prejudice" for the umpteenth time, and I am currently reading "Americanah" and "Something Bright, Then Holes."

Work Experience

Work Experience

2018

I'm currently a freelancer, and I write regularly for TIME.com and Fortune.com. I also contribute as an events reporter for Variety. My work can also be found at The X Magazine, and others. I also do freelance copywriting and podcast consulting.

2015 - 2017

I served as senior editor and lead on podcasts at ATTN: (attn.com), a Los Angeles-based media company focused on politics, the environment, social justice, personal finance, health, and the economy. As one of the first 15 employees, I was responsible for shaping the editorial direction, balancing brand, newsworthiness, monthly site traffic goals, and quality to produce digestible, shareable, good stories that added to the conversation. Stories that I assigned, edited, and wrote were consistently top traffic drivers.

While serving as senior editor, I pushed for more reported, original pieces that elevated the brand. Along with our lead editor, I supervised a team of writers and editors, assigned and edited multiple stories per day—ranging from long-form to quick trending pieces—worked with the audience/social team on the daily publishing schedule as well as optimal headline, photo, and deck selection to reach the widest audience.

As lead on podcasts, I launched, produced, booked, helped edit, and co-hosted ATTN:'s first (and currently only) podcast "Got Your Attention," a round-table and interview podcast, which featured ATTN: staff as well as important thinkers, authors, and personalities.

2013 - 2015

I worked in several capacities at Salon (salon.com). Most prominently, I was the assistant editor of innovation and launched Salon's Innovation vertical. There I covered everything from tech, science, space, and health to music, comedy and arts and culture, and I was a top driver of traffic to the site due to my knowledge of the brand, ability to write quickly, and finger on the pulse of the day's news.

I was responsible for writing, proof-reading, and publishing four to six articles per day—which could be anything from breaking news (I covered the Isla Vista shooting, the missing Malaysian Airlines flight, the death of actor Robin Williams, etc.) or interviews and explainers about specific topics. In that position I interviewed luminaries including Bill Nye "The Science Guy," Walter Isaacson, Nicholas Carr, Flying Lotus, Britt Daniel of the band Spoon, and more. I was also featured on WHYY's "Radio Times" to discuss the end of "The Colbert Report."

2010 - 2013

While getting my Master's degree in Journalism at NYU, I had internships at The Frisky, Conde Nast Traveler, and Salon. Prior to my foray into journalism I worked for two years as a staff assistant for U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer in her Los Angeles office. There I hired and managed a team of interns, acted as a liaison between constituents and the staff, wrote congratulatory letters on behalf of Senator Boxer, monitored the press and compiled daily clips for the D.C. office, and watched hours of C-SPAN to monitor votes, among other tasks.
